The CHS World Language Department announced 53 Collinsville High School Class of 2025 graduates earned state recognition for excellent performance on the 2025 Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy exam. 

The Illinois Seal of Biliteracy recognizes a student's ability to effectively communicate in both English and a second (or third) language. Students must show proficiency in both languages.  Those who achieve recognition earn a special seal placed on their high school diploma and designation on their transcript.

Two honors are available: the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy and the Illinois State Commendation Toward Biliteracy. 

• The Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to those whose proficiency level is equivalent to the Intermediate High scale set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. 
• The Commendation Toward Biliteracy is awarded to students whose proficiency level is rated at Intermediate Low or Intermediate Mid in a second language.
